Anxiety is the emotional state we can find ourselves in when we’re unable to cope with the stress in our lives. Stress arises when a person has trouble coping with the demands their life has placed upon them. Anxiety is such a powerful emotion that it can manifest as physical symptoms like changes in body temperature, sweating or even palpitations.
The symptoms of anxiety are different for different people and it can result in some extremely negative behaviours. Some people self-medicate by overindulging in food, drinking alcohol to excess, smoking cigarettes, or taking drugs. In extreme cases, these negative behaviours can become eating disorders or even self-harm. These coping methods cause more harm than good. Not only can they harm our relationships with other people, they can make sufferers more vulnerable to stress in the future. This can become a vicious cycle of stress, where stress triggers self-medication and self-medication triggers or worsens stress.
I specialise in Anxiety, Depression, Childhood Abuse, Domestic and sexual abuse. I offer treatment for PTSD and Trauma that affects many people and stop people to live a normal life. I also offer couples therapy who have a relationship and sexual issues.
